He is an experienced community-centred leader and a former careers adviser, having worked across schools and colleges and holds the Diploma in Careers Guidance. He is the former Deputy Leader of Enfield Council, and a trustee of the Southgate Cultural Fund, which offers financial assistance for young people in need.
Daniel represented Southgate Green Ward on Enfield Council between 2014 and 2022 – and before that between 1998 and 2002 – where, amongst other roles, he served as Deputy Leader of the Council, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Chair of the Health Inequality Workstream, as well as being the Chair and Founder of the Brexit Contingency Panel.
He has been described by a respected industry expert as ‘a true champion’ for his work spearheading the £42m Cycle Enfield Project and have overseen the implementation of numerous large-scale sustainable drainage schemes, including one of the largest in Europe.
As an effective local community champion, He secured:
– £55k Section 106 developers’ money as part of the redevelopment of a former gasholder site for the New Southgate Millennium Green – a fully independent community-run trust;
– a new zebra crossing outside Broomfield School; and landscaping works along the A406 by Bowes Primary School to ease air pollution and create a bee-friendly corridor; and
– successfully intervened on behalf of Aldi/B&M to take over a derelict retail site after planning officers had initially refused permission.
I am also a longstanding informal educator and lecturer.
